Our Story

"The East Main Band" started out as a little side project for singer/songwriter Jody Grimes to record a few country songs he had been writing in order to capture a few moments in time that had been weighing on his heart. He tapped a couple best friends and previous bandmates (Darren Robertson & Jon Wright) to see if country music was something they might be able to lean into and create something to be proud of.  All three musicians have been life long fans of authentic country music and the stories that make Texas country special. What started as couple late night writing sessions down on East Main Street in Tomball, TX has grown into something bigger than any of us imagined."

We're not trying to reinvent country music—we're honoring it. Our sound draws from the legends who came before us while staying true to our own experiences. Every song we write comes from a real place: The loss of a loved one, the people who shaped us, real world life experiences, and the Texas landscape that runs through our veins.

Respite Ridge is a collection of three songs that capture who we are. From the title track's reflection on finding peace in the chaos by the escape to any small Texas town letting things slow down, to the heartfelt gratitude of "We've Done Ok," to the bittersweet hope of "Until We See Him Again"—these songs tell our story.

We believe country music is about connection. It's about sitting around a bonfire with friends, sharing stories, and finding common ground in our struggles and triumphs. That's what we bring to every stage, every recording, and every moment we share with our fans.  We put God first and everything else just happens the way it's supposed to.

First and foremost all glory be to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Without him, none of this would be possible. Our sound is shaped by the legends of Texas country and traditional country music. We draw inspiration from artists who never compromised their authenticity—the ones who wrote from the heart and played with soul.

From the storytelling prowess of classic country songwriters to the raw energy of Texas honky-tonk, we blend these influences into something that's uniquely ours. We're not copying what came before—we're carrying the torch forward.

Every chord we play, every lyric we sing, is a tribute to the music that raised us and the Texas spirit that defines us.
